We The target audience for the Indie genre is females in their late teens, between the ages of 16-18.
It is clear to see from our questionnaire that this audience would prefer to watch Orange Unsigned Acts instead of X-Factor, showing us that they prefer to listen to non-mainstream music which fits perfectly into the Indie genre and target audience. The questionnaire also reveled that this audience use IPods by download songs from Itunes but mainly illegal downloading sites showing just how popular music is to this age group. This audience also prefer Indie Pop genre to the other genres within the Indie genre. They also prefer to see bands instead of solo artists within a Indie Pop video, however the results were very close, they also relate to the artist's in the video through point-of-view shots and eye contact into the camera along with having a video that relates to the lyrics of the song. The target audience expect the colours on an Indie Pop CD cover to be simple and dark such as black, green and red. They also expect the album name to be either simple or unusual, linking with the Indie quirky style. They also expect to see the same image, colours and font style on the CD covers to be the same on the front and back.
The questionnaire also told us that the audience expect to see the image used for magazine album adverts to be the same as the one used on the CD cover, making it easier to recognises the artist/band. They also expect the font and colour used on the magazine advert to be the same as on the CD cover, creating a theme throughout the whole album. The audience also like to see start ratings, popular/well known songs and the artist/band's website to be featured on the album magazine advert.
